I started lifting weights back in High School while I was training for football. I had a loose weightlifting structure, but after I went to college I really had no clue what I was doing. I would do the typical “bro split” of working on chest and arms 5 days a week, while skipping legs and avoiding cardio like the plague.
In 2017, I went to my first CrossFit class to try out something new and I got my ass KICKED! I still remember the workout and how bad I did, and I remember thinking that the training I was doing just wasn’t working if I was THAT bad at something. I drank the kool-aid and I’ve been doing CrossFit since, and I’ll keep doing it for the rest of my life.
I began coaching at CrossFit Angola in July of 2019, and took the plunge to go full time in May of 2020 (right in the middle of a global pandemic when all gyms were shut down).
Nutrition was the biggest game changer for me. I used to think that the more I ate, the stronger I’d be. Come to find out, Arby’s and Domino’s doesn’t get you fit. I started doing research on how to eat for health, longevity, and performance, and then began to do nutrition coaching to help spread the message that nutrition can improve your life. I love doing nutrition coaching because I believe that everybody deserves to have the tools to build a healthier life and avoid chronic disease.
